How do you use social media to build your career?
Researchers from the Universities of Sydney and Queensland are conducting a study examining the ways in which contemporary Australian women authors use digital media to be commercially and/or critically successful, and their author survey is now open!
Authors of all genders are invited to take part, to help researchers understand how authors engage with readers and the publishing industry online. The project aims to help the careers of women authors facing online harassment, who must navigate difficult labour conditions as self-promoters of their work online. At the conclusion of the research project, tools will be developed to support women authors to engage effectively and safely in online spaces.
The survey will take 10-20 minutes to complete, and will close for responses on 8 March 2025.
This research is supported by an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant (LP220200396) and industry partners, the ASA, the Australian Publishers Association, and BookPeople (formerly the Australian Booksellers Association).
