Each year the ASA hosts the Colin Simpson Memorial Keynote to commemorate journalist and author Colin Simpson, a founding member of the ASA, the driving force behind the introduction of the Public Lending Right in 1975, and an accomplished writer and television host.
The keynote address is typically delivered by an author or illustrator and, in keeping with its namesake, is a thought-provoking speech about topical issues facing creators today.
An illustrious range of industry luminaries have delivered this address, including Shankari Chandran, Toni Jordan, Tony Burke MP, Nyadol Nyuon, Tony Birch, Benjamin Law, Jacqueline Harvey, Frank Moorhouse, Stan Grant, Shaun Tan, Melissa Lucashenko, Jackie French, David Marr, Markus Zusak and more.
Save the date: this year’s Colin Simpson Memorial Keynote will take place in Sydney on Wednesday 13 November! Invitations will be sent out in September.
