With their fast-paced action, coming-of-age drama, romantic tension, and surprising plot twists, YA murder mysteries like Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and Karen M. McManus’s One Of Us is Lying have blown up on social media and spawned a fanbase of readers who are always looking for their next great read.

But writing crime for a young audience has its challenges, like ensuring the dark content remains age-appropriate (without sacrificing the fun!) and captivates reluctant readers.
