Book-to-screen adaptations are having a moment, with international sensations Bonnie Garmus (Lessons in Chemistry) and Alice Oseman (Heartstopper) and home-grown talents such as Trent Dalton (Boy Swallows Universe), Jane Harper (The Dry, Force of Nature) and Holly Ringland (The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart). But the process of optioning your work and adapting it for film and television can be opaque, and opportunities are thin on the ground. As an author, how can you put your best foot forward?
