Deciding who Narrates Your Story

Choosing the right point of view can mean the difference between a good story and a great one.

How do you decide who narrates your story? Should you use first-person narrative or third person narrative?  What are the different techniques of using a child protagonist compared to an adult protagonist narrator? How does the narrator’s voice affect the reader and progression of the story?

If you’ve ever wondered which point of view to use, don’t miss this practical workshop with author Suneeta Peres Da Costa. You will learn how to:

Suneeta will talk you through her own creative processes and choices in her two novels, Saudade and Homework, as well as works of non-fiction and poetry which mobilise ‘personae’, character, and voice for narrative purposes.

You will have the chance to flex your own storytelling skills by workshopping a short piece of narrative writing from the perspective of a child compared to an adult narrator in first- or third-person.
