Creating series that sell

Both children and adults love a literary series, from The Bad Guys to A Court of Thorn and Roses and The Thursday Murder Club, but writing and securing publication for a series is a tough task. How do you create characters and worlds that will connect with readers and make them desperate for the next book? How do you write a series that stands out in a crowded market? How do you pitch a series to a publisher, and how many books is the right number?

Get expert advice from one of Australia’s leading authors of children’s series, Jacqueline Harvey. Jacqueline has authored five series for children, including the phenomenally successful Alice-Miranda (with sales of over one million copies in Australia and New Zealand), Clementine Rose, Kensy and Max, Willa and Woof, and Kevin the Sheep

In this session, Jacqueline will share how she:

Writers across all fiction genres and age ranges will be able to apply these lessons to their own work and capitalise on the great potential of literary series.

There will be time for questions.
